Question For You......

This post will really show my ignorance to the political world, but whatever......

I've always (well I guess not always, but for about the last 4 years) wondered the following.

If a gas station is being refueled (is that what they call it?) on Monday with lets just say 10,000 gallons of gas, I assume (see here we go) that they pay one flat price for that gas. For ease, let's just say they paid $10,000 for it on Monday, then why can the price per gallon fluctuate so much? In my equation, it cost the gas station $1/gallon on Monday. It costs me $3.03 on Monday. It costs me $3.11 on Tuesday. What gives?

I obviously realize that in my assumption that the gas station pays a flat charge could be way off therefore resulting in something totally different. But, until I know more, that's what I'm going with.

Talk amongst yourselves.

I've Been Tagged....

Jenny tagged me for this meme. I have to share 7 random things about myself. Enjoy - or not.
1. I think mashed potatoes are nasty. I've never been able to acquire that taste/texture. I remember being in elementary school and being in the hot lunch line and seeing the cooks scoop up a substance that appeared to look like ice cream....I was so disappointed when I realized that it was mashed potatoes.
2. I'm a list writer. I write a list almost every day. Sometimes I add things to my list that I've already completed just so that I can cross it off.
3. I like to have my alarm set to a time that is the same time forward as it is backwards. For example 5:05 or 7:07.
4. I used to have my closet color coordinated. After sometime, I felt like I was always wearing the same 5 things every week to work. Now, I have my most recent worn item in the back of the closet and let it work it's way back up to the front.
5. I shave my legs every day. I don't use shaving cream or soap. I just throw the old leg up to the corner in the shower and shave. I've done this for years and years. No idea why I started this habit.
6. I cannot remember people's names. If I'm somewhere where I don't know anybody and somebody introduces him/her self or their friend, I don't really even listen to what they tell me their name is because I know I won't remember. Guess I'm not getting an "A" for effort on this random thing about me.
7. I get embarrassed for other people. If I'm watching a show, for example Rock of Love, and somebody is about to something dumb, I have to turn the channel. I cannot bear to watch them embarrass themselves.

Now, I'm supposed to tag seven people. I don't even know if I know seven more that haven't been tagged already.....I'll leave it up to you.

Happy Easter....

We had a fabulous Easter that was filled with family and candy candy and more candy.
I was the "coolest mom" for letting the boys have Peeps before breakfast. Yuck - those things are so gross, but the boys gobbled them up like they hadn't eaten in weeks.
A quick picture before church. I really didn't intend to dress like the boys. It was the first thing I grabbed out of the closet.
Brett had a blast finding all the Easter loot at Great Grandpa and Grandma's.
The cousins......Brett, Jadyn, Colton and Kyler.

The Hunt.....

On Saturday morning we had a little neighborhood egg hunt. I have to say though, it just seemed wrong that the kids had to be in winter coats and boots as they ran around hunting for plastic. Regardless, they had a blast. The neighborhood kids: Colton, Simon, Maison, Hannah, Joslyn and Haley
As I was taking this Colton was saying to me through clenched teeth, "Mom, hurry up I have to go find more eggs." Sorry.
Bigs (that's what we call him) figured he'd just wait it out in the driveway until the other kids felt sorry for him and gave him some of their eggs.

Drama King

Mike was put in charge of getting Brett a haircut. I thought it wouldn't be busy if he just brought him to the local establishment right after he picked them up from daycare. Apparently there was a 25 minute wait (to which I said "why did you wait, you should have just left - Mike's reply...."I don't even want to hear that." )
I was making dinner when the boys arrived. Colton came in first through the front door and I asked him where the others were. He didn't answer my question, but proceeded to tell me that "Brett is a spaz." As the other two walk through the garage door, I could tell things didn't go well. Brett didn't even have his boots, coat or hat on and he was screaming. Mike was sweating and said "that was the worst hour of my life."
After the 25 minute wait, Brett REFUSED to wear a cape, REFUSED to sit by himself and REFUSED to let the poor gal finish his haircut. She got about 75% done and that was it. It. Was. Over. As they left, Brett was screaming, Colton was calmly eating Brett's sucker and the woman waiting for her haircut made the comment "Guess that's why Mom sent you." He's all happy now!! Oh and never mind the laundry that I was starting to sort on the bed. Guess I should have cropped that out!

Thank You.

Miss Blog Sweet Blog surprised me with a little gift today. She took my picture of the boys so nicely getting along and made it into a header for me! Now I just have to figure out how to crop it down a little bit......

The "look" that little brother gives after big brother has taken a Chez-It out of little brother's bowl. Lesson: Don't mess with little brother's food.

Self Portrait Take One

Because I didn't have to get the kids ready for daycare today, I thought I'd attempt to use my cute teeny tiny tripod and the self timer to take a quick morning photo. Crazy - I know.
I'm not good at that whole lighting thing, but that must make quite a difference. When I look in the mirror, my hair is much lighter than it looks in this picture. It's still dark underneath and please remember that I've been very honest that I HAVE NO CLUE how to do hair.
Oh and please be sure to note the quilt behind me. Leah's mom made that for me when I was pregnant with Colton almost six years ago!!

Blond vs. Brunette

Please remember that these pictures were taken by a 5 1/2 year old....

Back in October, I decided that I should try something new with my hair. I went back to my "natural" color. The best thing about it was that I could go for months without any roots appearing which was a good thing for the old checkbook. But, after awhile, I was feeling a bit pale, bored and itching for summer...... And then......blond hair.I was in the bathroom while Brett was taking a bath and Colton came in with the camera and snapped this one. I need to get a face shot so that you can see the difference, but hubby is working evenings and let's be honest - after a 9 hour work day, a quick run to Target, dinner, two kid baths and homework, I'm really not interested in trying to get a cute shot.
Guess you'll all have to remain on the edge of your seats for yet another day.

Momma's Got a New Do

In the past month or so, I've noticed something new about me. Something that isn't fun and is a sign that I'm growing older. Here it is. Are you ready? You sure?
I.Have.Gray.Hairs!!!
What is this all about? I realize that everyday I'm inching closer to the big 3-0, but come on!
I was trying to get pity from my husband to no avail. His comment you ask? "Well, it's hard for me to feel bad for you. At least you have hair that can turn gray."
Good point. Never ask a bald man for hair sympathy.
So on my girls night a few weekends ago, I graciously share the top of my head so that they can see that yes, indeed, there are gray hairs there.
For my third confirmation, I must show my mother. She just looks at me, smiles, and says, "Sorry, you get that from me."
Well darn it. This morning I decided to do something about it. This was after I plucked countless gray hairs out of my head and realized that that was not really going to help me.
I went back to blond hair!!
I'm working weird hours today due to a dinner thing I have to go to for work so I made a 9am appointment this morning with my lovely Ashley. I really could get used to this lifestyle. Waking at 7 instead of 5 to my cute little boy yelling from his crib "where arrrrrrrre you?" Taking my sweet ol time getting the kids and me ready for the day. Dropping them off at daycare while I get pampered.....oh yeah, back to reality.

I'll post pics of my new hair color soon.

Momma's Helper

He's going to make a good husband one day!

Nobody Can Resist GHIII

My mom and step-dad stopped by before they headed off to warm, sunny Mexico. They too could not resist the temptation of Guitar Hero.....

Middle Name Meme

Miss Jaime tagged me with this one.....

(1) You must post the rules on your blog before you answer the questions.(2) You need to list one fact about yourself using each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name use your maiden name instead.(3) When you are finished with your answers, you tag one person for each letter of your name.

KARIN (not Karen, but pronounced Car In)
K- Let's see.....Kitchen - while I don't really really enjoy cooking, I do have to say I'm getting much better at navigating this part of my house.
A- Articulate (except when I'm blogging)
R- Rule follower. Always have been. I get a little nervous if somebody suggests bending them a bit.
I- Irritable in the mornings - it's not pretty; if I can make it 30-60 minutes without somebody asking me a question, it makes for a much better day.
N- Nurturing - this is a newer characteristic for me since I've become a mother.

Now I'm tagging Marilyn, Jaci, Jill, Sara and Tammy
